Name: Side Curtain Airbags
Risk: If the rollover side curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a crash that necessitates activation of these safety systems.
Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the ORC software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin June 23, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chryslers number for this recall is T25.
Name: Auto Park
Risk: Vehicle may move unintentionally after driver has exited the vehicle.
Remedy: Dealers will inspect and update software to current version
Name: Occupant Restraint Control Module
Risk: Side airbag or seat belt pretensioners may not deploy in a roll-over accident
Remedy: Dealer will update programming for the Occupant Restraint Control Module
Name: Reprogram Powertrain Control Module
Risk: The fault handling strategy of the Engine Control Module (ECM) or PCM software in the affected vehicles does not remove positive torque requests from the engine controller if the CAN-C bus stops communicating while the cruise control is requesting positive torque. If the CAN-C bus stops communicating the cruise control may maintain current vehicle speed or possibly accelerate. If the driver does not shift to neutral or apply the brakes to stop the vehicle this condition can cause a vehicle crash without warning.
Remedy: Inspect the software level of the ECM/PCM and, if necessary, perform a software flash on the ECM/PCM of affected vehicles to improve the fault handling so that if the CAN-C bus does stop communicating any active torque requests will be cleared
Name: Tailgate Latch
Risk: The tailgate actuator limiter tab within the power lock actuatory control assembly may fracture allowing the lock rod control bracket to over-travel which may pull the lock rods and release the latches, potentially resulting in the tailgate inadvertently falling open at any time An unintended opening of the tailgate while driving may result in a loss of unrestrained cargo from the truck bed while driving. Lost cargo may create a road hazard to operators and occupants of other vehicles, and can cause such vehicles to crash If the tailgate latch releases and the tailgate opens while driving, cargo may fall out, creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: The remedy for this item will limit the locking actuator travel and not allow the pivot arm from overtraveling and pulling on the locking/unlocking rods. Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicle, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin September 14, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chryslers number for this recall is U74.
